Located along a quiet stretch of farmland along the eastern tip of Long Island, the project establishes a reserved and stately front while composing expansive views of the gentle landscape toward the back. In plan, the scheme rigorously maintains a twelve foot structural module – this informs the spatial sequencing of the private bedrooms and public space wings, while the front entry unites both into a comprehensive whole. Drawing conceptual and material inspiration from modernist projects of Fire Island and the vernacular sensibilities of historical Hampton homes, the project seeks to reinterpret these notions into a new and expressive form.
