Spanning 10,000 sq ft across six floors, this design-build renovation project transformed an art dealer’s gallery and entertainment venue into a connected and functional family home.
Previously the home of an eccentric art dealer, this massive six-story penthouse had only one bedroom with the remainder of the house dedicated to sitting rooms and galleries. We were tasked with rapidly adapting this gallery and entertainment venue to a home for a growing family.
With only seven months to design, permit, demolish and rebuild the apartment, we leveraged our construction management team to execute a design-build process. This allowed us to streamline the design documentation through close collaboration between the architectural team and the contractors. The construction moves were significant, including cutting through several concrete floors, a new cantilevered staircase, custom millwork in every room, six renovated bathrooms, as well as new HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. Completing such a momentous project in such a short time was incredibly rewarding for our team and, most importantly, enabled the client—a family of four—to move in according to their needs and timeline.
